Coors Light – Ice Cube
Ice Cube thinks he's the coldest. Coors Light begs to differ. For 3+ years I was the lead writer, developing the "Who's the Coldest?" campaign targeted toward the Black/Multicultural audience. "Being cold" is a physical state for Coors Light, but for Ice Cube and our audience, "being cold" is a mindset.
The opening line was scripted as "I've been hearing some things, I'm not accustomed to hearing." but Cube said no and I was fine with that.
The client asked for 15 second ads AFTER production. So we dug through our footage.
We spent more time filming the "double vent" pour than filming Ice Cube.
Ice Cube chose his new song "The Big Show" which actually debuted here, in this spot.
RIP Tiny Lister (aka Deebo) - who called a skinny, cardigan-wearing copywriter "Boss".
Ice Cube and Tiny were kind enough to read through my alt lines and jokes.
We almost sold the last spot in this video, but one of the clients didn't get it.
I shared this spot with my therapist. I think it offended her.
"You're colder than influenza" almost made it into the TV spot.
When giving direction to visual effects, I described the mic as a hummingbird.
